Dear Parents and players

HJSC will again run trials for certain age groups for players wanting to play at HJSC that are interested in playing in the Kangaroo or A team for their age group. This year we will therefore be running trials for Under 11s, 12s, 13s, 14s and 15s boys/mixed squads.

There will not be trials for “Girl-only’ teams this year due to the structure of the leagues and / or not large enough number of girls in a given age group to warrant trials. All girls are welcome to trial for the mixed teams.

The trials are entirely optional and players may choose not to trial if they would prefer to play in a team with friends who have also elected not to trial.

The trials will take place as listed below.  Players that are successful in these first two open trials will be invited to attend a third and final trial if required.

The time for the age groups are:

Tuesday 7th February

U11s – 17:30 – 18:30

U13s – 18:45 – 19:45

U14s – 20:00 – 21:00 (please note date and time change)

Thursday 9th February

U12s – 17:45 – 19:15

U15s – 19:30 – 21:00 (please note date and time change)

Sunday 12th February

U11s      09:00 – 10:00

U12s      10:15 – 11:45

U13s      12:00 – 13:00

Lunch break 13:00 – 13:30

U14s      13:30 – 14:30

U15s      14:45 – 16:15

Tuesday 14th February

U12s – 17:45 – 19:15

U15s – 19:30 – 21:00

We are not expecting to hold a 3rd trial for U11, U13 or U14 due to smaller player numbers at these age groups.

The trials are open and anyone who wishes to be selected for the squad for each of the age groups can attend.  This includes returning and new players who wish to play for HJSC in the 2016 season.  To be considered for selection you MUST attend at least one session, however to give you the best possible chance of impressing the assessors, we would recommend that you attend both trials.

If your child is invited to the third trial session and you have other commitments that prevent your child from attending, please contact Stephen or Allison (details below) to discuss alternative arrangements.

We would also ask that you please register your child prior to the trials as we expect these age groups to fill quickly this year Registration details are available here:

The trials will consist of a number of training stations aimed at showcasing different skills and these will be run by HJSC coaches, with professional coaches from Football Star Academy assessing the players.

If anyone wishes to be selected for the position of Goalkeeper, we will record this at the first trial session and then, as required, run a specific GK session at the second trial.

The trials process is not always an easy one and based on feedback and our desire for this process to be as transparent and open as possible, we have produced a trials information document and can be accessed from the link below:

What to bring:

Hampton Primary School:            (Tuesday 7th, Thursday 9th and Tuesday 14th February) - runners (no boots), shin guards and water bottle

Simpson Reserve:                         (Sunday 12th) - boots, shin guards and water bottle

Above all else, we want the players to enjoy their soccer and whilst we fully understand the disappointment if a player doesn't make the squad, we hope that you will still enjoy your soccer at HJSC, work hard and try again next year.
